LITTLE DRAGON

LittleDragona.jpg (16724 bytes)This series' main character is a young woman who may be the first person to have dual citizenship on two separate worlds.

The first is the parallel planet homeworld, a place of sophisticated cities composed of strange, graceful structures, an opaque sky, unexplored plains and mountain ranges as wild as the outback of Mongolia. One day a few of its pale and slight people find an infant Negro girl in one of their temples. She is baptized "Taym" ("citizen of the cosmos") and reared by the temple scribes and teachers. Like many people on homeworld she is given a pet that becomes her best friend: a white-skinned, blue-eyed dragon she names Adams.

The second world is Taym’s birth world, earth. She returns here fleeing a holocaust on homeworld, adopting a new identity in the process: Lee Jun Fan (Little Dragon), a Sino-African student, hired out of Peking University to become a field operative for UNIA, the United Nations Intelligence Agency. Except for a brief prologue, this series picks up our heroine’s adventures at this point.

As Lee Jun Fan, Taym’s intelligence work with UNIA will lead her to places of both beauty and squalor around the world. Since UNIA operates under the original charter of the United Nations, potential locales are limited only the 142 countries who are UN members. Any recognized nation may ask assistance of UNIA, but the agency will only act under conditions of grievous international stress, and even then only in situations where implementing peacekeeping forces is ill-advised

"We’re not snoops," UNIA’S commander instructs Lee during the course of this series. "What we try to do is keep the lid from blowing off the pot on the world’s hot spots." More often than not, this is no a pleasant or easy job.

Not that Taym has any choice but to do her best and make the most of her Lee Jun Fan identity and its duties. She is stick with her new life until the persecution of her adopted people can be squashed. In the meantime, she and Adams can take advantage of their situation by trying to solve the mystery of how and why she was taken from earth as a baby and delivered to a homeworld temple.

The main cast of this series consists of:

LEE JUN FAN: Found as a baby in a temple called the House of the Cosmos, floating in a black box in front of a transdimensional wormhole dubbed a "portal." (At that very same instant, as if by design, ADAMS was born on the silver mountain Hoab, the rookery for homeworld’s populating of size-shifting dragons.) A vigorous, intelligent, and perceptive person, Taym can also be a dangerous for when pushed into a corner.

DOYLE McCULLAY: Lee’s UNIA partner and dearest Terran friend. He is a mystery man in man ways: athletic, scholarly, worldly, and (disturbingly) he sometimes even seems to know a bit about Lee’s secret past. Handsome, solemn, secretive, and attentive, Doyle personifies the romantic hero.

AUSTIN HALL, BRIGADIER GENERAL (RAF, retired): UNIA’S Operatives Division commander. Somewhat of a Renaissance man himself, Hall is no way quiet. A proud Scot and natural leader, instead of his rank his underlings respect their immediate superior because of his courage, intelligence, and know-how.

CHARLES ANDERSON MESMER: The "avec" (one of homeworld’s scribes and teachers) who found Taym’s box floating in the House of the Cosmos, thereafter becoming her proctor and guardian. Leaving homeworld for earth disillusioned Charles for a time, but his position as the trustee of the refugee’s dragons while on earth has helped to buoy his spirits. A luminous and informative kind of character, Charles is sort of an Obi Wan Kanobi played by a mature Rodney Dangerfield.
