What would happen if you gave in to the dark nature of your soul?...

BLACK MIST. A tale of vengeance and despair.

Black Mist-Since the beginning of time a dark force has walked the earth...

Now it has a name...

During the mystery of creation a mist covered the earth, enveloped it within its tendrils, permeating itself, becoming one with all things...even that which is most precious to man...his immortal soul.

In the 19th century a cult of assassins who worshipped the Hindu goddess, Kali, terrorized the British suppressed northern territory of India. They were known as "the Thugs". The Thugs considered their victims as sacrifices to Kali. This continued until the British finally managed to capture most of the cult members and the cult gradually disappeared...until now.

Present day New Orleans. The Thugs have resurfaced and this time they've managed to tap into the primal force of evil, the very dark side of the human soul...the Black Mist. While attempting to reincarnate their dark goddess into the flesh through the corpse of a recently murdered woman, the Hindu cult mistakenly unleashes an essence even more sinister and vile...something they can't even hope to control or understand. A force that could destroy the very fabric of life.

But the resurrected woman who has become the unwilling host to this ancient entity has a mind of her own and must struggle internally between the evil influence of the mist and what her conscience considers to be just.

Black MistFROM THE CREATOR:

"Black Mist has been a story that has been percolating in the back of my mind for the past few years," says creator and writer James Pruett. " I've been wanting to do this story for a while. The only thing that's been holding me up is finding the right artist for the story. And after seeing Mike Perkins' penciled pages on Brian Lumley's Necroscope, I knew he was the one I've been waiting for, that he could really create the haunting mood that this series needs.

"Black Mist is about the inner struggle each person must deal with between good and evil. Biblically speaking, it is written that during creation 'a mist covered the earth...' What I'm doing is taking that and then applying it to the human soul. The conflicting side of human nature is inherent in all of us, 'We are all born into sin...  and we are all sinners...' to paraphrase different scriptures. Since we all have this conflicting, struggling nature - The Mist is inherent in all humans and there is a constant struggle to do what is right. But what would happen if you let the dark side take over? That is what I want to explore. Show the downside of that path and expose it for its false promises, the destructive side of letting your emotions take control of your actions.
