An all-new series set in the foundation of Arthurian tradition. The days of 5th-6th century Britain is a time referred to as the Dark Ages. The Romans had abandoned the once heralded Isle of the Mighty and now the people of Roman Britain faced aggression at the hands of barbarian invaders, chiefly the Picts and the dreaded Saxons. It was at this time that came a man who was to become the greatest of Britain’s heroes; a man who, fifteen hundred years later, still has a hold on our imaginations.
He is King Arthur.
LEGENDS OF CAMELOT is a series set in a progressive Pendragon universe. Each episode has a setting firm in the grand tradition and blended with its own slice of fiction to create a truly unique Arthurian world.
Brief description: The chronicles of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, told in self contained episodes that all interweave to tell the larger picture.
Key Elements: Strong fantasy elements are included in this almost historical look. King Arthur has proven to be one of the greatest and enduring legends in world literature. The codes of chivalry will play an important role and often put characters into insightful dilemmas.
Association: With the success of shows such as Xenya, Hercules, Sinbad, and the Merlin mini-series, doing a regular formatted show based on King Arthur seems to be a natural.
Format: Would probably work best as an on-going show and would cover a wide spectrum of characters in self contained stories. However, the stories would inter-twine into one magnificent fable and each additional story would only add to the myth. Caliber has released 5 issues thus far and more are in the works.
Additional: Legends of Camelot can be a property to build an entire merchandising structure around. It lends itself well to toys, publishing, and games could be created out of some of the fables. Obviously, it would have strong appeal as a television show.
