SEEKER
Notes on the former and current versions of Seeker.

INITIAL BACKGROUND
From the original Seeker Saga, first published by Sky Comics.

shepherdThe saga of Seeker supposedly began millennia ago with the fall of the fabled continent called Atlantis. Long ago, it was prophesied that two brothers of the royal family would vie for control of that vast empire and, in the attempt, bring on its destruction. This came to pass and the younger of the brothers, Kiryn, was damned to forever walk the Earth as a spectre, always "seeking" release but never finding it.  The first incarnation of Seeker (a male version) LEFT.

Eons later, Kiryn, having been a sorcerer of immense power, discovered a way to inhabit willing human hosts and thus, the legacy of the Seeker had begun. In recent days, the "Seeker" found a receptacle in the form of Tracy Lemaster who took on the mantle of Seeker after her fiancée--who was the prior Seeker--perished in combat with one of his arch-foe’s evil devices.seeker

As a highly successful FBI agent, Tracy has an ingrained sense of justice. The Seeker’s loathing of wrongdoing is strongly apparent and, thus, the two of them have united as one in the eerie semblance of the newest Seeker. Now, in the dark and shady recesses of dim alleys or the towering lofts of high-reaching skyscrapers, the Seeker stalks the night meting out swift justice and unerring retribution!

Because of the appeal of having an unidentified representative for the government, it was decided to harness the role of Seeker for the TAC Force.  However, Tracy, believing her primary role was to serve Kiryn, was not a willing participant.  It was decided that in order for Seeker to exist...Tracy had to go.  She was locked up in a mental facility where her claims of being an incarnate would fall on ears that didn't care. Right- The "Tracy" version of Seeker

But did they believe her?

Sample Script from Comic Series

The following scenes are from the New Seeker series taken over by Caliber.  The myth of the Atlantean origins is purposely left vague so it is contestable whether that is the truth or a figment of Tracy LeMaster's mind (the former Seeker).  The current Seeker, LeAnn Heyward has no such illusions.

SCENE A
Because the Kiryn manifestation was called forth by Tracy looking in any kind of
reflection, Tracy's cell is completely made of non-reflective plastic.  Light is transfused so no glare or reflection is possible. Here is a portion of the script from #1 which explains this peculiar cell. The discussion is between Dr. Benjamin and the special agent Hart as they watch Tracy. The current version of Seeker is shown BELOW

Benjamin: Here she is.

Hart: I can’t see anything in there, it’s dark.

Benjamin: She likes it that way.

Benjamin: The lights are set on a regular timer. They kicked in about a minute ago. It takes a bit to warm them up.

Hart: I gather that it’s a special kind of lighting system?

Benjamin: Oh, yes. It’s a diffuse radiant ceramic. Created just for her. Rather than coming from one source, it’s as if the entire room turns bright with no central source of light.

Benjamin: Anti-glare...non-reflective.

Hart: Is that important?

Benjamin: Very much so.

Benjamin: Even this glass is special. That’s why you won’t see her that clearly. We have to keep any possible source of reflection out.

Hart: Why?

Benjamin: To protect her.

Her room is pretty spartan. Everything is black and white. There is no glare from anything. The room itself seemingly has no lights, its as if the whole room were somewhat illuminated, including the floor. Of course, without a single source of light, she wouldn’t cast any kind of shadow either. She has a desk and chair that is molded into the floor and wall. Her bed is molded into the wall. In one corner, is a cubicle area which we can’t see inside from the window. Their are no windows the he room whatsoever and the two way glass that the two men are looking in, looks the same as the rest of the room. There is a single solid door.

Benjamin: The entire room has been created to eliminate any kind of glare whatsoever ....there can be no chance of her spotting any kind of reflection.

Hart: What happens when she sees her reflection?

Benjamin: It causes her to manifest her neurotic disorder.

Hart: You mean that’s when she goes crazy.

Benjamin: For brevity’s sake, yes. Actually, it is a type of multiple personality. I’ll be glad to provide you with the records.

Hart: That’ll be fine.

Hart:: What’s in there? How come we can’t see her.

Benjamin: That is the toilet area. We try to give her some privacy. Although, we do have a camera hooked up there, we leave it off. There’s no need.

Hart: Does she know we’re here?

Benjamin Perhaps. She can’t see us or anything. I think her waving is a sign of defiance.

Hart: Hmmm. Modesty doesn’t seem to be a problem with her.

Benjamin:: Well, Mr. Hart, I think after all this time of being monitored, she no longer feels she has anything to hide.

 SCENE B
Tracy believes that she will somehow escape.  She is well aware that there is a new Seeker and she resents the tainting of the name of Seeker.  It is a passion that keeps her going.  As Hart watches her, he notices how she maintains a regime to keep her going.

Scene one
Show Hart standing in front of Tracy’s window. He is holding a tape recorder. His suit coat is off and his white dress shirt is rolled up at the sleeves.

Hart: Okay, Tracy. You got four minutes left. Let’s see how punctual you are today.

Scene two
Show Tracy in her room. She is in the lotus position on her bed. Her eyes are closed.

Caption: Day 7. Watching Tracy Lemaster is like watching the same re-run over and over. She is very methodical and deliberate. In fact, she’s redundant.

Scene three
Flashback scene
Tracy is sitting in her chair with her head tilted up.

Caption: After breakfast, which lasts precisely from 8:00 to 8:30, she spends an hour and a half reciting her foreign languages. Dr. Benjamin has allowed tapes to be piped in according to her specifications.

Caption: She is fluent in Spanish, French, and Russian...is conversational in German, Italian, and Greek. The last few months, she has been studying Japanese and seems quite adept at it.

Scene four
Tracy is doing Tai-chi.

Caption: Exactly at 10:00, she begins her exercises. First she does stretching for 20 minutes, then runs in place for 20 minutes, then practices some form of karate for 20 minutes. The next hour, she does some kind of Chi.

Caption: She always finishes precisely at noon, right when her lunch is served.

Scene five
Tracy is meditating.

Caption: After exactly half an hour to eat lunch, she meditates until dinner at 6:00....which should be right about now.

Scene six
Out of flashback. Tracy’s eyes open up.

Caption: Right on the money, Tracy.

 Page 14

Scene one
Tracy walks over to the door. As she does, the food tray slips in on the floor.

Caption: her timing is unbelievable. Precise to the minute.

Scene two
Show Hart watching her. He is still talking into his tape recorder.

Hart: The most amazing thing is that there is not a clock anywhere in her room.

Scene three
As Hart is watching, Tracy sits down to eat. Plastic forks and such.

Hart (talking into her tape recorder): She’ll finish dinner in exactly half an hour, spend her time until eight o’clock listening to the news which Benjamin has agreed to pipe in.

Scene four
Hart leans closer to the glass.

Hart: Then she’ll exercise for two hours. Hard exercise. I’ve lost count of how many push ups and sit ups she does, they’re in the 100’s.

Scene five
Hart turns away and looks at the tape recorder.

Hart: Then it’s a shower, and then spend the next two hours listening to a volunteer read the Encyclopedia Britannica....page by page. Then it’s bed....and to start all over again.

Scene six
Hart starts to walk away. He puts the tape recorder down.

Hart: Well, Tracy. Tomorrow, your routine is about to change.

SCENE C
More of Tracy's past in this interview with the mysterious Mr. Hart as he approaches Tracy and her belief in the Atlantean myth resurrection of Seeker.

Tracy stops. Sitting at her desk (across from where she sits) is Hart. Hart is in scrub like clothes. He has a band around his eyes which looks sort of fuzzy like material which allows him to see through.

Straight on shot of Hart.

Hart: hello, Tracy. My name’s Hart.

Hart: I like to talk with you, if you have the time.

Scene six
Hart seems pleased with his little joke.

Hart: you do have time, don’t you Tracy?

PAGE EIGHT

Scene one
Tracy seems non-plussed by his appearance and casually sits down.

Tracy: Sure.

Scene two
Hart touches the band across his eyes.

Hart: Forgive my appearance, but Dr. Benjamin insisted.

Hart: something about reflections.

Scene three
Hart leans forward.

Hart; would you care to tell me more about that, Tracy.

Tracy: Not much to say. He seems to be worried about it.

Scene four
Hart leans back and smiles.

Hart: yes, he does....yes, he surely does.

Scene five
Hart gestures around the room.

Hart: Take this room. No possible place for a reflection.

Hart: You have to eat off dull clay plates with dull plastic ware. You don’t even have running water to be allowed to collect in a pool, and even your fingernails....

Scene six
Hart grabs her hand and holds up her fingers to her.

Hart:....even your fingernails are covered up to hide the glossy enamel.

Scene seven
Tracy pulls her hand away.

Hart: Now, why do you think he is so worried about you seeing your reflection?

PAGE NINE

Scene one
Now Hart leans closer.

Hart; Maybe, it isn’t your reflection he’s worried that you’ll see.

Hart: Maybe he feels you’ll see someone...or something else.

Scene two
Hart folds his arms.

Hart: Kiryn, perhaps.

Tracy: What do you know of Kiryn?

Scene three
Hart puts his hands in front of him. He is enjoying this.

Hart: Oh, there’s a lot I know about Kiryn. And Daniel. And Seeker. And you.

Scene four
Hart looks up.

Hart: Let me see if I’m up to speed on your story here.

Scene five
Start flashbacks here.

Caption: Tracy Lemaster. One of the FBI’s top field agents. Assigned to the Tactical Advanced Counter-Strike Force a.k.a. TAC Force. Expert in most forms of martial arts, top of the class in weapons, and master of hand to hand combat.

Caption: Rising young star in a new field of the F.B.I. Only one problem, though. You fell in love with another agent....a Daniel Lewis. Daniel Lewis who would soon become known as Seeker.

Caption: That was where the first mention of Seeker came from. Why Daniel decided to put on a costume and fight crime after hours was beyond anyone’s guess.

Caption: The boys at the top started thinking.....this was really good public relations. Danny did a good job. Perhaps, it was time to make it known that Seeker was actually an agent.

Caption: But then Daniel got himself killed. Right out in the street during rush hour traffic. No way to hide that fact.

Caption: Then a new Seeker appeared. A woman this time. The public immediately took a liking. Seeker wasn’t just an individual, it was a group. Kill one, doesn’t matter. There would be another. Can’t deny the possibilities for P.R. here.

Caption: But something happened. Seeker wouldn’t follow orders. In fact, she went after some of the top brass of the agency. Shouldn’t have done that. These are the decision makers ....the movers and the shakers. They operate on their own level.

Caption: So, Seeker had to be neutralized...well, this one did anyway. She was new at her job, she didn’t know yet that there was no one she could trust....no one. Captured, she was imprisoned. Seeker....no more.

Caption: You see, this Seeker didn’t work for the government. She said she was psychically linked with an Apparition named Kiryn. Kiryn was supposedly this ancient sorcerer from, of all places, Atlantis.

Caption: It seems that Kiryn would choose certain people and inhabit their bodies to exact vengeance on other sorcerers or warriors from Atlantis. Apparently, a battle has been going on for eons and Seekers were on the side of truth and justice....the good guys.

Caption: Yet the body that Kiryn inhabited would be able to function in society. It could be anyone. A grocery clerk, a movie actress, a prostitute, why, it could even be a F.B.I. agent. So, the question arose. How and when would this Kiryn take over the body?

Caption: How about if that person looked into a reflective surface? It could be anything. A mirror, glass, even silverware. But they wouldn’t see their own reflection but instead they would see Kiryn. And that would summon him.

Scene five
Out of flashback. Hart is looking at Tracy.

Hart: So, how am I doing?

Tracy: I think you have the basic thread of it.

Scene six
Hart stands up.

Hart: You know, I could get you out of here.

PAGE TWELVE

Scene one
Hart comes over to Tracy and leans down towards her.

Hart: All I have to do is shove a mirror in your face. You maintain your composure and don’t manifest Kiryn or whatever you call it, and you’d walk out of here, a free woman.

Scene two
Tracy looks straight into Hart’s face.

Tracy: it’s not my decision.

Hart; who’s is it?

Tracy: Kiryn’s.

Scene three
Hart turns away, exasperated.

Hart: I have need of someone like you, Tracy.

Hart: But I can’t have you going off on these tangents like this.

Scene four
Hart sits back down.

Hart: Oh, don’t worry. It’s not to be Seeker or anything. We already have one. She’s pretty good, too.

Hart: With just the right push, she gets a lot of good press. We haven’t had this much positive feedback since Melvin Purvis.

Scene five
Tracy looks intent.

Tracy: She is not Seeker. That is not Seeker.

Tracy: That is just a costume.

Scene six
Hart just shrugs.

Hart: Whatever. It gets us better results.

 PAGE THIRTEEN

Scene one
Hart still is trying to reach her.

Hart: Why do you exercise so much, Tracy? Is it to work out your frustrations?

Tracy; It is to be ready to bear the mantle of Seeker again.

Scene two
Hart just shakes his head.

Hart: That ain’t going to happen, sweetheart. I told you. I don’t think you understand, we already have a Seeker.

Scene three
Now Tracy stands up.

Tracy: No, you don’t understand. They know all about me. They know that I took up being Seeker after Daniel was killed.

Tracy: Think about it, Hart.

Scene four
Tracy leans over to Hart.

Tracy: They know they’ll need me....eventually. Why do you think I’m still alive?

Tracy: Why won’t they let me see a reflection? Because they think I’ll flip out?

Scene five
Tracy stands up, pulling away from Hart.

Tracy: No. It’s because they fear me. I’m like a bomb that they don’t know how to harness but they need me ....just in case.

CURRENTLY IN SEEKER
Tracy LeMaster has escaped and has taken on a new look from some proposed Atlantean costume design and jewelry.  Her quest is to kill Seeker. She has been given the code name, Gestalt, by Hart who wants all references to her being the prior Seeker, stricken from all records.  The current Seeker is aware that another girl, Maxine Brasura, is being trained to be a Seeker also.  LeAnn is not happy about this.

In a trap gone wrong, Gestalt and Seeker meet.  It is a fierce battle and at the end, Seeker is killed.

Or is she?

Stay tuned.
