TROY SCRIPT
Opening page
Show a beach head in the distance. There are some Greek ships on the
shore and some still coming in. There will be some tents set up and lots of soldiers
milling around. Camp is setting up and even more Greeks are coming to the shore. The
walled city of Troy can be seen above on a small hilltop. The following captions are a
voice over (it is the prophecy of Cassandra
who was an oracle but cursed by the Gods
that no one would believe her).
Caption:
"Their ships will come in like birds flocking to their summer home. There will only
be a few at first, then each day will bring more. Soon, the beach will be covered. Their
helmets and shields will glimmer like coins in the distance."
Caption:
"They are here to spill Trojan blood. They will take the sea from us and raid
our cities. They will spread like a vine along our coast and draw all life from us. They
will descend on our walls like the locusts attack a fresh stalk."
Page two
Show the following in group shots, not just a close up of them.
I want to have them interacting with the other Greeks instead of doing just the profile
shots. Start off with a far shot across the top and then well focus closer. Show
Agamemnon and Odysseus together. They seem to be plotting something and are immersed in
each others talk. Nestor and Diomedes are talking. Diomedes is sharpening his sword
as the elderly Nestor is talking to Diomedes. Almost like a student/teacher relationship.
Single shot of Ajax who is wrestling with some of the other men. They are clad only in
like a loin cloth and he is tossing off one of the men as another tries to jump him. Show
Menelaus staring off towards us while Aias is barking orders at someone. Show a dramatic
shot of Achilles standing there. Patroclus will be standing sort of behind him.
Caption:
"They will be led by names known only to you in legends and from lands that only
the most ambitious traders have visited:"
Caption:
"The appointed King of the kings, Agamemnon
of Mycenea... and Odysseus, the clever
demon of Ithaca..."
Caption:
"The wise sage, Nestor of Pylos... the
brave Diomedes of Tiryns...
"The giant of Solanis, Ajax....Menelaus of
Sparta.... and the blood thirsty,
Aias of Locris,...".
Caption:
"and from Myrmidon, the greatest warrior
of all, Achilles."
Page three
Three panels across the top, taking up about a third of the
page. They show different elements of battle, sword fighting, arrow being shot, etc.
Caption:
"The Greeks are coming."
Caption:
"They will rape our women, pillage our city...."
Caption:
"and kill every remaining male left in Troy."
Large battle scene. Show some chariots and just an all out
bloodfest.
Caption:
"It will be a war like the world has never seen. It will last ten years...
ten years of daily battles.
Caption:
Young children will grow up, knowing no other life than that ofthe Greeks outside of our
walls, killing their fathers."
Caption:
"Widows will re-marry only to lose
more husbands, mothers will mourn the
death of all of their sons."
Caption:
"And the greatness of Troy will fall to fable. It will become only a myth in the
pages of history."
Page four
Shot of Cassandra who narrated the opening pages. She will be
sitting on the floor, in a lotus position, holding a sphere in front of her. Her eyes are
closed. The room is very dark with only a candle off to one side where Hector is sitting
(we dont see Hector)
Cassandra:
That is what I see, my dear brother.
That is what I see.
As Cassandra opens her eyes, she turns towards Hector who sits in
the darkness with her.
Cassandra:
But although I have been blessed with these visions, no one ever believes me.
Now we can both of them in the darkness. Hector is sitting in a
chair near her. He is slumped forward, looking downward...reflective,
thinking...pondering.
Hector:
I believe you, Cassandra. I have always believed you.
Cassandra stands up as Hector now looks at her directly.
Hector:
Why?
Hector:
Why would the Greeks attack us so?
We dont interfere with their trade.
Cassandra comes over to Hector and puts her hand on his shoulder.
Cassandra:
You know the Greeks have always been jealous of our position.
We are the masters of this shore.
We collect a tribune from all that
wish to pass by.
Cassandra:
But they need a reason...a passion to
fuel their fire....a cause that will men will
give up their lives for.
Hector, still in shadows, looks up at Cassandra.
Hector:
And what is that reason?
What is that source of their passion?
Cassandra leans down and kisses him on the forehead.
Cassandra:
A woman. A woman with golden color hair....with beauty that melts mens hearts...with
eyes that pull love from even the most
devoted husband.
Cassandra:
A beauty that men will die for.
